Service
for the Blind and Deaf
As a service a braille menu is available and proprietors
Peter and Debbie Websdale have both learned sign language and are better
able to communicate with their deaf customers. Two of their daughters,
who spend time working in the restaurant are also involved in this initiative.
To
giving an example of how well this service is received. Peter tells
of the young deaf couple with their baby who came in to order their
meal. Noticing that the assistant was having difficulty in understanding,
Peter stepped in and was able to put the customers completely at ease.
They felt so welcome, and pleased to be able to talk without the usual
feeling of isolation, that the young man contacted his parents to come
and join them for a meal. He wanted to show them how impressed he was
that someone cared enough to learn to sign.
